Hohner Student II 12 bass piano accordion
Image Gallery:
Here is an unrestored Hohner Student II piano accordion from the 1930s. Two octave treble and 8 bass. The reeds are zinc plate Hohner reeds stamped 'H' which give it a nice mellow old Hohner sound. the back is stamped "440". I've taken a look inside and can see that one original reed has been replaced on the treble side, and the leather valves are in need of replacement, as is the reed wax. Bellows show slight wear on the back and there is a patch of white finish missing from the edge of the keyboard visible in the picture of the back of the instrument. It is basically sound, but needs a standard overhaul to replace valves, wax and bellows gaskets, and possibly pallet facings. The tuning is not far out. Would make a great project for someone who wants to develop their accordion repair skills, and the result will be a nice playing classic Hohner.
